Residential construction is where Bayview started, back in 1978.

Ken Ringe’s father, Herb, founded the company, which began as a shell subcontractor, doing framing work for other builders. After Ken became president in the mid-Eighties, Bayview started building custom homes, and then progressed to multi-family and eventually commercial work.

But we could never stop providing residential construction services -- even if we wanted to. (Which we don’t.) We have too many friends and repeat clients who count on us to be there when they need us.

That reality was demonstrated in a whole new way during the brutal hurricane season of 2004. People all over Florida needed their homes repaired or rebuilt, and our community was no exception. In response to a clear, immediate need, we established our Insurance Restoration Division. Since 2004, they’ve helped more than 100 families.

In response to another, happier need, Bayview has increased its emphasis on remodeling. As home prices (and taxes) escalated, more people opt to add on instead of move up. Retrofitting an existing home is not as easy as some TV programs lead people to believe, but it needn’t be a horror show. You just need the right contractor.

Of course, we continue to build custom homes, even though the vacant land inventory in our area continues to shrink. (Through our real estate company, we may be able to help with that. See “Resources.”) And this is an area where our Design-Build capabilities really shine.

Design-build brings together design and construction professionals suited to the client’s unique requirements. Led by the project manager, that team works to meet the client’s standards and expectations. The client has a single point of contact. There’s closer collaboration between design and construction. The builder can find significant savings during the design phase. And project delivery time is usually shortened, which can mean additional savings. Even better, it means a more satisified client.
